RIVERS SPEAKER, IKUINYI OWAJI-IBANI RESIGNS

Port Harcourt – Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly, Hon Ikuinyi Owaji-Ibani has resigned .

His media aide Mr Onengiye Fineface told the Vanguard that he did on personal ground. This was after he received governor Nyesom Wike who presented the 2016 appropriation bill of N307 billion to the House.

A new Speaker , Hon Adams Dabotorudima from Okrika emerged new Speaker of the House.

The appropriation bill tagged budget of consolidation came barely two weeks the governor presented a supplementary budget of N104.2 for 2015 to the assembly.

The governor explained that his administration made a budgetary proposal of N187 billion fir capital expenditure while N120 billion was budgeted for recurrent expenditure.

Promising that the government will strengthen process of diversification of sources of income to the state governor Wike said the budget will be largely financed from the federal allocation and internally generated revenue, IGR.

The lawmakers also passed the appropriation bill into law before Hon Owaji-Ibani stepped aside as Speaker.

It will be recalled that Hon Owaji-Ibani’s election was among those nullified by the Tribunal
