IGHALO NEEDS CREATIVE EAGLES MIDFIELD-FULUDU

Edema Fuludu has said Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo, would start scoring more goals for Nigeria as he does for his club, Watford, if the team can get a creative midfielder.

Ighalo has been in an impressive form with Watford in the English Premier League scoring 12 goals – the latest of which was a brace against Liverpool on Sunday. The forward has formed a formidable partnership with club captain, Troy Deeney, who has assisted more than half of the goals.

Fuludu, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said the current form of the player can be transferred to the Eagles but hinged it on the presence of a creative player who can create chances for the 26-year-old.

“Ighalo is in a very good form at present and he can do the same in the colours of Nigeria,” the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner said.

“His current form is one that any coach will like and will make him stay in the team. But one should notice that he is not working alone in scoring those goals. He has someone who assists him in creating the chances.

“The present Eagles we have are lacking that creative person in the middle of the pack. That is why they seem to struggle with scoring goals. When there is no creative midfielder, the strikers will struggle for balls.”
